The EC is currently revising the General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) to better ensure a more efficient and even market surveillance and to improve the recall of dangerous products. Unfortunately the proposal does not include a specific provision for the exchange of data on product-related injuries.
As the feasibility of implementing such a system within the EU has been amply demonstrated, as well as its cost-efficiency, EuroSafe calls upon the EC to include in the proposed legal text an additional article requiring the EC to set up a Pan-European Injury Database (IDB) and for Member States deliver injury data, based on the existing IDB-methodology.
